Fiverr.com is a micro job site popularly known as a job site for $5 onlookers. It’s most likely you knew about Fiverr as a result of seeking for legitimate ways to make money online in Nigeria.
Fiverr is a US-based company, registered according to US law. But it’s open to anyone with access to the internet including Nigerians.
It’s also likely that you may have wandered to this post and thinking of if this could be your last read before you make your first 1000nairadaily online.
Honestly, I can assertively say yes. If you can take action today, I’ll make a claim that you will definitely have your first order in less than 30 days.

The assumption is that you have got certain skills that you will offer on fiverr.com.
Fiverr is a platform where you exchange your skill for money. If you have heard or known what freelancing is, fiverr.com is the perfect place for you to kickstart your career in freelancing.
There are some myth I would rather clear here than have you get frustrated by people opinions.
- Fiverr is not everything $5, you can upsell with gig extra and other gig packages.
- You can succeed on Fiverr as a Nigerian (if you follow my advice)
- Buyers on Fiverr are not all cheap, you could get life-changing offers from Fiverr if you are patient and professional enough.
- Fiverr is not yahoo yahoo, you have to work and get paid. There is no magic money on Fiverr. The only thing is, it’s one of the easiest ways to make money online.
You may be thinking of if I really know what I am talking about or not.
But before you entertain such thoughts, you should know that I and members of my team have earned more than $20k on Fiverr with 2 different accounts in less than 2 years.
It may be a small amount for some but if you’re reading this from Nigeria you should know that it will take a typical civil certain 20yrs to earn $20,000USD (NGN7.2m) going from the just implemented 30,000NGN Nigeria minimum wage.
I am not trying to ridicule the Nigerian civil service system or workforce, as you know it’s self-explanatory. So I do not have to waste my time to explain that.
Rather, I am trying to make you see that the gig economy is something that you should not take with a pinch of salt.
As you can see in the screenshot that’s my picture, and I do not only have a single account.
Accounts get banned for so many reasons, failure to meet up with clients needs and after two warnings you may lose your account.
And that has been me a few times.

Fiverr signup process is really evolving especially if you want to be a seller on Fiverr.
Initially, you only need to input your email and password, complete your profile and attach a social account to it…
but now, you would need to verify the skill that you will be selling on Fiverr.
You would need to go through a short quiz of the specific skill you want to sell on Fiverr.
For example, if you want to open a gig on blog writing on Fiverr, you would need to answer a few questions relating to blog writing.
And this applies to other services.
If you will be offering a writing service, you should make sure that you score relatively high in the test for English quiz.
As a Nigerian, you already have few things against your odd, and you should try to impress buyers to buy from you with such social proves.
A 9/10 will be a great idea.
If you feel uncomfortable, you could get someone who is better than you in the English language to assist you to answer the questions.

Once you decide on the skill to sell, you should tailor your profile towards that.
Create a gig
You can see a gig as a request to order.
It is a description to offer a service you know in exchange for your buyer’s money.
In describing your gig, you should make it clear enough and also take note of some SEO tricks to enhance your gig visibility.
As you can see in the image above, it’s very clear that he wants to offer a logo design service.
He even went further to say he wants to sell a modern minimalistic logo.
That is differentiation, and that is what is making people pile up on his gig. As you can see, he has more than 100 orders currently.
And do not think they are all $5.
He has 3 packages and they may be a mix of $50, $30 and a bit of $5.
Sellers of that magnitude usually do not take orders of $5.
The $5 is just a clicker trick to bring people to the inbox.
And at the inbox is where the real closing happens.
Apart from offering a clear service, he is using a known SEO strategy to increase sales.
There are two major SEO strategy you can decide to use on Fiverr:
- Keyword research and optimization
- Leverage on social certification and authority
While the first option is clear, the second option is an SEO strategy where you leverage on authority websites’ links to your site.
In other words, you are enjoying the recommendation from trusted websites that your content or service is really the best and should be trusted.
This strategy is what we refer to as link building.
With Fiverr, you are not necessarily getting links from other websites.
What others who have bought from you are saying goes in the same line with the same strategy as link building.
So my advice for you as you are starting out is to utilize the two SEO strategy.
You should get people who have bought from you to give you a fantastic review,
and make sure you use one to two keywords all over your gig.

Go to the search box on Fiverr or browse over the major category of the service you want to offer.

Click on the subcategory of the service you want to offer.
Click on the Fiverr Best Seller option from the drop-down list
The idea of filtering the option to see the best sellers is to know those who are most attractive to buyers so you can target their keywords.
However, there is no rule of thumb.
Sometimes, you will see sellers with more orders on the recommended section and viz-a-viz.
Also, be sure to check for gigs upto the second page.
Like you can see above, some leverge on keyowrd to come on the top but arent getting sales like those with better reviews.
So you will need to do a combo: use the ranking keywords, plus the buyer keywords.

You should settle for at least 2 keywords, and use each at least 4 times in your gig description.
Of these keywords, one should be your primary keyword: the one that describes your offer.
And the other should be your secondary keyword: the one that augments your main keyword. Mostly like an LSI to help with ranking.
You should use your primary keyword in your gig title, the first paragraph of your gig description, and your gig related tags.
Your primary keyword might bot be in your title, but should be in your gig description, FAQs, gig related tags etc.

Your gig image
Your gig image is another crucial element of your gig creation process.
It is the image of your gig and should tell a compelling story about your offer.

It’s a pro tool and you will need to pay for it. But if you can not afford it, you may use powerpoint or the basic Canva option.
Then you can hit the publish button.
Like any publication, you do not publish and go to sleep.
You should share your links in networks where you can find your buyers.
You can also share them on your social profiles.
But I will strongly advise against sharing your link in your personal profile as a Nigerian because that’s a waste of effort.
Share your links in groups of entrepreneurs and small business owners who are likely to patronise you.
My last note about fiverr…
If you offer service offline, I will advise you tell your buyers to pay you via Fiverr so you can get a double benefit: their money and their recommendation.
Their review will help you get more clients and sales.
So you should ask for it, it’s worth it.

Fiverr also encourage outsourcing of jobs to others so you can leverage on that.
